Limitations
Most will agree that the AI development is advancing at fast pace. Focusing on a single facet—such as image generation—can be difficult, given AI’s pervasive influence across different fields. It is possible that in the near future, using AI will become as routine as the use of Google. Because of this rapid progression, many findings risk becoming outdated even before analyses are complete. Nonetheless, this research sets out to establish a foundational understanding of AI-driven creative processes.
My perspective is also shaped by my background as a former illustrator, which may influence how I interpret and evaluate emerging trends. At the same time, the frameworks and methods chosen for this project define certain limits on the scope of inquiry. Due to practical constraints, a relatively small number of participants will be involved in the study, potentially affecting the representativeness of the results.
Furthermore, the role of generative AI in, for instance, Dutch design academies may differ markedly from its role in non-Western creative industries. This highlights the importance of cultural, social, and institutional factors in shaping both findings and their interpretation. To account for these variations, I will draw on external reports and case studies where appropriate, ensuring that different contexts are reflected in the conclusions.
Ethical Considerations
Informed Consent
Before collecting any information, I will explain the purpose of the study and how it will be conducted. I will also try to make sure everyone knows they can stop participating at any time. My aim is to build trust and respect people’s right to choose.
Data Privacy and Confidentiality
I will keep all collected information in a secure place and remove any details that could identify individual participants. My aim is to protect privacy and keep the information confidential.
Researcher Bias and Transparency
Because I used to work as an illustrator, my background might affect how I interpret the information I gather. I will openly acknowledge these possible biases and look out for conflicts of interest. My aim is to maintain honesty and clarity in my work.
Respectful Research Environment
Since talking about AI can sometimes be sensitive or bring up strong feelings, I will try to create an environment where people feel comfortable sharing their thoughts. My aim is to treat everyone’s views with respect and without judgment.
By following these ethical guidelines, I aim to protect participants’ rights, ensure the research remains trustworthy, and provide a thoughtful look at AI’s fast-changing role in the creative practices.
